Veterinary Nurse Training

Aireworth Vets is a recognised and well-established RCVS training practice with several experienced and fully-qualified internal assessors / clinical coaches. We are very proud to have helped the majority of our veterinary nurses gain their professional qualifications.

There are two main routes for Veterinary Nurse training with Aireworth Vets:

Option 1. Employed as an Animal Care Assistant - you will acquire hands-on experience by working for us for at least one year. Animal Care Assistants primarily support the Small Animal Vets treating domestic pets and less frequently, the Large Animal Vets with emergency Equine and Farm cases. This full-time role includes some weekend, evening, and 'on-call' night shifts.
The decision to offer training is influenced by the potential trainee's performance record; our practice training budget; and the availability of internal clinical coaches. If your application to train is successful, the practice may pay to enrol you at a local college, paying the fees for a day-release program whilst providing support and clinical coaching throughout your course.

Option 2. Studying self-funded at one of the UK colleges - having secured a place as a student you will need to find a practice to offer a placement. Self-funded Student Veterinary Nurses work for us on a voluntary basis during their Veterinary Nursing Degree Courses or Diplomas. Their working hours may also include some evenings and weekends (but no nights).
Applications to Aireworth Vets should include: details of the college and course you are studying and what type of placement is required. This might be a series of block placements of several weeks; or an on-going placement of three days per week with the other two days spent at college.
The decision to offer a training placement is based on an applicant's CV together with a trial morning and interview.

Spring 2012: We do not currently have any Animal Care Assistant vacancies available and all available Student VN placements have been filled.
