Reproduction Services

Equine Artificial Insemination requires a much higher level of veterinary input than natural service as it is necessary to accurately predict or detect ovulation so that insemination can be performed at the optimal time.

Aireworth Vets is a BEVA approved AI practice.  We operate AI services at several equestrian centres in Yorkshire and Lancashire (see below for details).  The centres have excellent handling facilities including on-site labs and liquid nitrogen tanks for frozen semen storage.  Most importantly they are run by experienced and conscientious staff to handle and look after your mare.  Aireworth Vets has a team of qualifed Equine Vets with AI experience and expertise as well as all the equipment necessary for modern stud practice.

It may be advisable to arrange a pre-breeding assessment of the mare before firm plans are formulated with respect to any AI program. A pre-breeding assessment should be performed when the mare is in season and includes a manual examination of the vagina and cervix, a rectal examination, an ultrasound examination of the tubular tract and the ovaries and the collection and examination of a cervical smear.
Cost of a pre-breeding assessment: £63 + a Visit Fee (approx £36 - £48 depending on your location).
